This is a group of Australian Long Nosed Fur Seals spotted close to Admiral's Arch, a geological feature that I will describe in my next post.
Fur seals are covered by two layers of fur. An outer coat of guard hairs and a dense undercoat of 15,000 hairs per sq.cm that prevents water from getting to their skin. No wonder fur seals of all species were hunted almost to extinction in many parts of the world.
