Dateline: Tuesday 11th March 2025 1800hrs - Darwin - Sunset Harbour Cruise

Journey Beyond, who operate the Ghan, offer this cruise as an optional extra. It proved to be a memoroable experience.
After departing the Stokes Hill Wharf Dock 2 I found myself on the sun deck with only one other couple, Brett & Chris who proved to be very entertaining and friendly company.  We had chosen the 'Gaze & Graze' option which meant that we were delivered with the gourmet platter shown in the photo. I should clarify that this was one plater for each of us! In addition to the gorgeous, plump prawns there was a Barramundi (The go to fish for Australians) pate, several sorts of cured meats,  a selection of local fruits such as figs and apricots and a Gargantuan helping of three kinds of cheese  - a local brie, cheddar and blue vein. Needless to say that none of the three of us managed to 'hoof' the entire plater but I had a good go!
Everybody else had chosen a sit down meal served from a buffet.  We got to have a little of everything, without having to fight for it.
The sunset is best told with the photos.  It was spectacular and the experince was made all the more thrilling by the presence of numerous electrical storms.  We had bolt lightening, sheet lightening and everything in between across the entire horizon.
It is almost impossible to photo lightening but when I looked back on the computer at the three photos I had taken with my phone I had captured a cloud backlit by lightening, shown as the last in the series above.
